The images below are all relative to a booklet I am making for my Graphics class. My booklet is themed around horror as you can tell. The images are all examples of colours/shadow schemes, fonts, image layouts that I can use to make my booket look as visualy aesthetic as I can, without going off the topic of horror.

Blood Background

This kind of thing would make a very interesting background for my booklet. Text and images could then be placed over the top of it. This could help me to create a flow through the booklet, and stop it from getting boring.

Collage - 13 Ghosts

I have added this because its a good example of how a collage can work well as an immage for the horror genre. As one image they can create an abomination look, even a gorey look. I think this is one of the best images ive seen on a horror film poster. It’s useful for me because it will give me ideas to fill my booklet.

 Savage Zombies

As always when looking at a good piece of horror work, you must consider the creatures aswel. Zombies may seem very cliche, but they are stil an old time classic of the horror genre and if you are going to use them, its important to make them look good.  Lots of blood or rotting flesh is always a convincing feature of a zombie.

Blood Splatter

Blood effects are sometimes crucial to a horror genre film or image. If a movie or poster is based on a very gorey subject, it is good to get a good looking blood splatter to enhance the image. Different shades of red ( light in the shallow areas, dark in the deep) and propper dripping effects are sometimes what can make or break a good image.

Font

Here is another example of a relevant font to the genre of horror. Used commonly, it is straight away associated with the genre, and for good reason. The lettering is thin and long, as if it has been carved with a sharp edge. It has a gruesom style to it. I have included it here because it is relevant to my study of fonts for my project.

Dracula

I have included this immage simply because of the font used. It is red, and looks like dripping blood. It’s a very common font but considering it is being used on a Dracula poster, it is as well placed as can be. Its good to have matching fonts to go with what ever the rest of the image is about.

The Ring Font

This is what I consider to be a classic example of a good font to use for horror. It is very quick and scribbled. The way that it has been done in a bright white contrasting to a dark background gives it good effect, and straight away most people will be able to tell what genre of movie it is for. The wide spacing in between the letters also in my opinion makes this font more visualy pleasing.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Colours/Shadows

This immage has been put on my blog because it is a good example of the right colour and shadow techniques to describe a good horror film. The yellow which is predominant in this immage fits in with the setting of the film to heighten realism. THe shadows create highlights on some features and hide others.
